Ar·tiv·ist: a person who changes the world by penetrating the collective consciousness through art and collaboration.

We are reaching out to local businesses to partner with Art as Action - your sponsorship not only makes our Artivism possible, but gives your staff the opportunity to experience it first hand through creativity and wellness workshops. Workshops include: Dance, Writing, Collage and other creative explorations.

Art as Action performances and programs nurture and cultivate a wide range of Artivists: from veteran performers experimenting with a new genre to closet artists just discovering their creative potential; from people with Parkinson’s who uncover their inner dancer to at-risk youth finding a safe space to explore their place in the world.

Art as Action’s exceptional collective of dancers, poets, musicians, visual artists and aerialists delve into a common human theme through Art as Action’s one of a kind collaborative framework, The Artivist Process, culminating in our thirteenth innovative and impactful multi-disciplinary performance.

The Artivist Process distinguishes Art as Action from other performing arts organizations. Made up of monthly brainstorming sessions and in-progress showings, the Process brings together a community of curious, passionate and dedicated people who explore the diverse aspects of the human experience through the theme, and in turn discover how to impact the community, support each other and produce ground-breaking work.

Young Artivists brings the power of The Artivist Process to at-risk teens. More than just lessons in specific disciplines, Young Artivists promotes artistic experimentation, creation and communication with others. Art as Action’s Artistic Director, in collaboration with Artivist Mentors, facilitates a 12 week Young Artivists Series at Attention Homes’ Runaway and Homeless Youth Shelter. As in past years, Art as Action will also donate tickets to the both/and performance to the youth and staff at the shelter.
