It is summertime in Colorado and Art as Action is cookin!

Artivist Performance at Denver Botanic Gardens

THIS WEEKEND: Sunday July 8, 10-10:30am

We will be performing at the annual SCFD Showcase on Sunday July 8th from 10-10:30am! We are thrilled to be a part of this event at Denver Botanic Gardens for the second year in a row.

Artivism among the flowers:

  • bass/dance collaboration with Dave Crotser and Sarah Leversee
  • a poem by Wayne A Gilbert
  • dance/spoken word excerpt from “Solo” by Sarah
  • an original song by Leann Roberts and BJ Suter
  • The Reconnect Performing Company will dance (Leann, Jan Gilbert Leversee, Carol Cowley, Sarah and Wayne)

Join Us! Guests will enjoy HALF-PRICE ADMISSION to the Gardens, as well as a taste of local entertainment and artistry brought to you by the talented members of the Scientific & Cultural Facilities District.

             

(in)VISIBLE Artivist Process

Art as Action’s 2018 Artivist Process/Performance is (in)VISIBLE. 

Is there a story within you that feels invisible?  Are you curious about expressing that story through dance, spoken word and/or music?  What would it feel like for that part of you to be seen?  What would happen if by making it visible you could open someone’s eyes or make someone feel less alone?

The theme/title of the next Art as Action show is (in)Visible and our path to the show, the Artivist Process, is just getting under way.

WHAT IS THE ARTIVIST PROCESS?

Whether you are a closet creative that is ready to venture out or a veteran artist who wants to go outside your box – join the ARTIVIST PROCESS: a collaborative framework designed to invite collaboration, build community, spark new ways of thinking and provide an outlet for creativity and expression. This is the place where Artivists are born and reborn – and find their kindred spirits among a warm, welcoming, kick ass community.  Not to mention, create an amazing show! (this year’s show will be November 17 & 18, 2018 at Colorado Conservatory of Dance!)

Join us for the first step of the 2018 Process:

Artivist Process Workshop Orientation

Sunday July 15, 10am-3pm at CO Conservatory of Dance in Broomfield, CO

  • Learn about the Artivist Process
  • (re)Create the Feedback Toolkit we will use throughout the season
  • Explore the show theme and possible piece ideas through group brainstorming and creative break out sessions
  • Connect with fellow Artivists/possible collaborators
  • Review the Piece Submission Process

This workshop costs $35.  If you continue with the Artivist Process / Performance, that will be applied to the $35 Artivist Participation fee.  (in other words, if you attend the workshop, your participation fee is covered!)
