Community Conversation: (prE)QUAL
Sunday, January 27th 1-3pm at CO Conservatory of Dance
(prE)QUAL was one of the most talked about pieces of our (in)VISIBLE performance – it inspired and challenged performers and audience members alike through amplifying the voices of Artivist Women from every decade 30s-70s.
The week after many of us came together at the Women’s March, we invite you to JOIN THE CONVERSATION. Watch the piece in its entirety, again or for the first time. Learn how this evocative piece came to be, ask the Artivists all your burning questions and become VISIBLE in expressing your feelings around what it means to be a Woman (or interact with Women) in today’s turbulent times. Attendees are also invited to bring their own poetry to share (3 minutes or less please).
This informal event is FREE and open to the public. The piece and discussion will contain mature content and some explicit language.
(prE)QUAL was conceived and directed by Jan Leversee. It was written and performed by Amy Dressel-Martin, Jennifer Hightower, Margie Dahlin, Tina Schoenherr, Karen Talcott, Leann Roberts, Jan Leversee and Sarah Leversee.
HOME: where dance lives
Feb. 9 (7pm) & Feb. 10 (4pm) at CO Conservatory of Dance
Control Group Productions’ HOME showcases some of Colorado’s most vibrant independent voices in contemporary dance and interdisciplinary performance. Started in 2016, HOME offers semi-annual programs that introduce audiences to new voices, share new works by veteran companies, and providing a sounding board for new ideas, collaborations, and explorations.
Art as Action Artistic Director Sarah Leversee joins Wild Heart Dance, Life/Art Dance Ensemble. Mary Lynn Lewark, Other Rooms and 3rd Law Dance/Theater for the Winter 2019 edition of HOME.
Last year’s HOME show provided Sarah the opportunity to create Solo I, a one woman show in a container – dance & spoken word about what it means to perform solo. This year brings SOLO II v.2: (witness) which explores the ever present question of whether or not to become a mother. (This piece was originally created and performed for (in)VISIBLE – this version will have some new twists and turns!)
